Suffolk County Music Educators’ Association

Welcome to the homepage of the Suffolk County Music Educators' Association (SCMEA). Our organization consists of professional music educators and advocates of music education throughout Suffolk County, New York.  SCMEA is a county affiliate of the New York State School Music Association (NYSSMA), a state unit of the Music Educators’ National Conference (MENC).

SCMEA sponsors and organizes numerous All County Music Festivals each year, as well as “Day Of” Festivals in Jazz, Percussion, Recorder, Horn and Tuba.  In addition to offering professional growth opportunities for our members, we serve as an advisory board to local school systems and award numerous music scholarships to students of Suffolk County school music programs. 

Website Acceptable Usage Policy

The SCMEA website (www.scmea.org) is the exclusive property of the Suffolk County Music Educators’ Association.  The items below dictate acceptable usage of the website as defined by the SCMEA Executive Board.

·         The website is designed to be the primary informational resource of the Suffolk County Music Educators’ Association.

·         The SCMEA website will not post / promote individual school / business events or programs, including emails to membership for the same purpose.

·         School districts / colleges / professional music associations will be allowed to post / promote events (i.e. workshops / clinics / programs) that invite participation by students and / or teachers of Suffolk County music programs.

·         General Membership emails will contain items / information related to SCMEA organization business / functions only.

·         Paid commercial members of SCMEA will have the opportunity to post a link (including a brief description of their organization / business) on the “Commercial Members” page only.

·         SCMEA does not share the personal contact information (email address, home address, phone number, etc.) of any organization member.
